My mother used to tell me how my grandmother would send her and her younger brother to church on Sundays. Instead, she would play hooky and go to Fat Boy Burger…a sinfully tasty alternative to her religious duties. The place went out of business a couple decades ago but once I made this piece, I started hearing unique memories from people who saw my art, much like my mother’s stories. Moments like weekend meals or passed relatives who would take them there and such. The main purpose for this piece was to try and illustrate and El Paso landmark based on my mother’s memories. What I seem to have made is a cartoon of a generations memories.
